Low, base and high resource allocation

Postby Brunswick » Fri Jul 06, 2007 5:17 pm

I'm trying to analyze uncertainty in resource allocation. Does RiskyProject present a statistical distribution of resource allocation during certain period time?

RiskyProject does not present statistical distribution associated with resource allocation. However you may view low, base, and high estimates for resources using resource view. Use checkboxes on the right pane of the view to select low, base, or high resource allocation charts.

You can select four different types of resource charts:
· Peak units: The highest level at which a resource is scheduled for all assigned tasks during a given period.
· Work: Total number of hours a resource is scheduled for all assigned tasks during a given period.
· Overallocation: A resource is overallocated when it has more work assigned than can be done in the resource's available time. Overallocation is number of hours a resource is scheduled for all assigned tasks over resource's available time. Overallocation can be presented only for work (not material) resources.
· Percent allocation: The percentage of a resource's capacity taken up by all its assigned tasks during a given period. Percent allocation can be presented only for work (not material) resources.

How do you calculate low/base/and high resource allocation?

Low, base and high resource allocation is calculated based on low, base, and high results of project schedule analysis. For example, the resource is assigned to the task with the uncertain duration. Low resource allocation would correspond with low task duration (P10).
