Calculated risk probability is different that the Input Probability

I assigned the risk to the resource(s) as a relative time increase and then also as a relative cost increase – both at 15% chance with 10% outcome. But the issue I seem to have when I do this is that the probability of it occurring goes above 15%. Do I potentially need to add the time delay to the t...

Using custom or discrete distributions with limited data.

- I have actual data for task duration, but only 5 samples. Should I use a custom or discrete distribution or is the data to limited?

Monte Carlo simulation performance

As part of our project reporting, we have to provide schedule risk analysis on a monthly basis. Currently, the master schedule is over 10000 tasks and is resource loaded. We use the MS Project addin to export the xml to RiskyProject and the size of file now is over GB and is maxing out the computers...

Cost accrual for risk analysis

We have just started a new process and are doing some integrated cost and schedule risk analysis. Some of the results we were seeing for costs in the Cash flow view looked odd until we noticed that the cost allocation was set for the end of the activities. We had to manually go in and reset them all...

BetaPert statistical distribution for Monte Carlo

We have been looking at alternatives to triangular distributions for modeling uncertainty in our tasks. One of the alternatives that has been mentioned is BetaPert. In what cases should it be used as opposed to triangular?

Statistical distribution for duration

As part of our Monte Carlo schedule risk analysis, as a first draft we are not yet requiring our team members to provide estimates for low and high duration. We want to import our schedule from Microsoft Project and quickly add uncertainties to all of the activities. I seem to remember that you can ...

Re: Correlation coefficient and impact

I have a risk which has two alternatives:
- increase duration on 10% - 5% chance
- increase duration on 30% - 1% chance
do these alternatives have the seed?
