DCMA Check #12: Critical Path

Critical Path test is designed to verify the logic and integrity of the schedule and particularly the critical path. The test involves increasing the remaining duration by a very large amount (600 days) on all Incomplete Tasks on the Critical Path. The schedule is re-calculated. Incremental increase of project duration should also be 600 days. The test allows to determine a broken logic somewhere in the schedule. Broken logic is the result of missing predecessors and/or successors on tasks where they are required.

Target

Critical Path test fails if there is at least one incomplete task on the critical path where incremental project duration does not equal incremental task duration.

Comments

Using list of task issues (the list at the top of Diagnostics dialog box) you can find tasks with "Critical path test failed for this task".
