Defining Resources


You define resources in the Resource view.

To define a resource:

  1. From the Workflow bar, select the Resources view.

  2. Double-click on the far left column of the Resource view. The Resource Information dialog box This dialog box contains General and Risks information about particular resources. The Resource Information can be viewed by double clicking on any not editable field associated with the resource in the resource view, for example on resource ID. Resource Information Dialog can also be invoked using shortcut menu in resource view. opens.

  3. Click the General tab.

  4. 4. Type in the resource name or select it from the drop-down list. If you type in a new resource name, it will be added to the list of resources in the resource view. When you add a new resource in this manner it will be assigned at 100% effort for work resource.

  5. Select the resource type from the Type drop-down list.

  6. Work Labor used to complete tasks in a project. RiskyProject treats both work and material resource equally during calculation.

  7. Material resources

  1. Type in the resource shorthand identifier in the Initials box. This is for reference only and does not affect calculations.

  2. Enter the resource rate in the Rate box. This is the hourly rate for the resource. Rates are the basis of the variable costs associated with each task An activity or job which has a start date and time, an end date and time, a duration, and other properties. A Project is comprised of tasks..

To assign a resource to a task in the Baseline The original project schedule (before calculation). Baselines are calculated without taking into account risks, uncertainties, and tracking information. RiskyProject uses only one project baseline. Baseline project schedules are shown in the Baseline Gantt view. In addition, the baseline can be shown together in the Result Gantt and Tracking Gantt views. It allows you to compare the calculated project schedule, which included risks, uncertainties, and tracking information, with the baseline schedule. Gantt view:

  1. Click the Baseline Gantt button in the Workflow bar. The Baseline Gantt view opens.

  2. Select the task to which you want to assign the resource.

  3. Click in the Resource field associated with the task.

  4. Type in the resource name or select it from the drop-down list. If you type in a new resource name, it will be added to the list of resources in the resource view. When you add a new resource in this manner it will be assigned at 100% effort. 

Tip: To assign resources at less than 100% or if want to assign material resource, you must go to the Resources tab in the Task Information dialog box. For more information, see “Assign Resources to Tasks
