Quantitative Analysis of Non-Schedule Risks

If you have risks that are assigned to non-schedule categories, such as safety, security, environment, etc. you can generate statistical distributions of these risks in Project Summary View.

Here is how probability and impact of non-schedule risk are calculated:

  • Risks could affect different non-schedule categories with certain probability and impact.
    • Risk 1: probability = 30%, impact = 60% for category technology. It means that this risk will increase technological problems by 60%.
    • Risk 2 probability = 40%, impact = 35%.
    • Total probability depends on how these risk events are correlated with each other. If they are 100% correlated probability will be 40%.
    • Total impact will be sum of impact on individual risks: 95%.
  • Monte Carlo simulations are performed.
  • Impact of all risks for each risk category will be summed.
  • Results are shown in the Project Summary View.

Statistical Distribution for non-schedule risk will be shown in Project Summary View

Non-schedule risks may have probabilistic risk outcome. For example, impact on safety may be between 10% and 20%. It will be reflected in statistical distribution for Safety.
