Importing Risk Assignments from Microsoft Excel

Professional version only

You can import risks with their assignments to tasks from a Microsoft Excel file. The information should be saved using the standard format and include risk names, activities IDs, risk probabilities and impacts in project cost and duration before and after mitigation. The templates and instructions can be found in RiskyProject directory, i.e. C:\Program Files\Intaver\RiskyProject 8\Samples:

  • ExcelImportTemplate.xlsx
  • ExcelImportTemplate-NoRiskOutcomeDistrib.xlsx
  • ExcelImportTemplate-WithPostMitigation.xlsx

Project schedule associated with these templates also can be found in the same directory and called RP_ExcelImportRiskAssignmentExample.alm.

To assign risks to tasks in a project schedule, import your schedule from Microsoft Project, Oracle Primavera P6, other scheduling tools, or create it directly in RiskyProject. Ensure that unique task IDs in Excel match the unique task IDs in your project schedule—these IDs are generated automatically and remain unchanged even if tasks are added or removed. This applies to both Microsoft Project and Oracle Primavera P6; in RiskyProject, the IDs are shown in the Unique Task ID column.

If your Excel file has post-mitigation risk probabilities and impacts, RiskyProject will create pre- and post-mitigation baselines for analysis, allowing you to compare Monte Carlo simulation results before and after mitigation.

To import risk register from Microsoft Excel:

  4. Click OK
