Add Risks to Tasks
There are two methods to define local risks.
1. You can define task risks in the Risk Tab of Task Information dialog box. All risks entered here are “local risks” and are not added to the Risk view.
2. You can define risks in the Global Risks view and then assign it to a task or resources using the Assigned to Tasks tab, the Assigned to Resources tab, or the Risk Information dialog box. The Risk Information dialog box can be invoked by double-clicking on a Risk ID in the Global Risks view. For more information about this method please read Assigning Risks and Uncertainties in Getting Started with RiskyProject.
To create a Local risk using Method A (Risk Tab in Task Information Dialog):
1. Open the Task Information dialog box
2. Click the Risks tab.
3. Double click on Risk Name field and type in the name of the risk.
Use Indent/Outdent buttons to create hierarchical structure of risks. This simplifies the enabling and disabling of risks. If you enable a summary risk, all of its risks are enabled and vice verse.
The Risks tab has the following features that allow you to modify the task risks:
- Indent/Outdent buttons: Use the indent/outdent buttons to create summary and sub risks.
- Load Risks from Risk View: Click this button to load the Global risks from the Risk view. Once you have loaded these risks, you can modify them for use in the specific task without affecting the original risks. See Assign Risks and Uncertainties for more information.
- Load Risks from risk template: Click this button to load a risk template. Risk templates allow you to create templates or predefined sets of risks that can be saved to a file that can be imported into any project. See Risk Templates for more information
- Shortcut menu: Right-click to open the shortcut menu. The menu allows you to add copy, cut, paste, and delete risks.
- Enlarge: Click to view the task risks in a larger dialog box. This feature is designed to allow you to view and modify the risks without excessive scrolling.
- Apply global risks: If it checked global risks will be applied to this task
- Risk Information dialog box: Double-click on a risk to add a detailed description of the risk, information about risk correlation, and risk mitigation plan.
Notes:
- Risks added to the task in this tab do not affect the baseline schedule calculation.
- You cannot add risks to summary tasks.
- Ensure that you have clearly defined your risks and uncertainties. For example, if you have already accounted for risk using a range (Base, High, and Low) of durations, do not add this as a risk as it is accounted for twice in the calculations.
Tip: You can copy and paste risks between tasks. Right-click and from the shortcut menu, choose Copy Risks to copy a risk. In the target task’s risk list, right-click and choose Paste Risk to add the copied risk to the task.
